SAN JOSE, Calif., April 7, 2009
– Allied Telesis Inc., a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet
switching solutions, and an industry leader in the deployment
of IP Triple-Play networks, today announced the launch of
its AT-PC2002/POE (Power over Ethernet) solution, the market’s
first Fast Gigabit Ethernet rate media Converter, with PoE
and an internal power supply
Initially developed for use in military
networks, the AT-PC2002/POE is particularly appropriate
for applications where the media converter needs to supply
power to devices more than 100 meters away from the main
network. The high data speeds enable the effective deployment
of bandwidth intensive end points, such as CCTV (closed-circuit
television), surveillance IP cameras, and VoIP (voice over
Internet Protocol) phones.
The AT-PC2002/POE provides up to 15.4
watts of power (full power PoE), supports both speed and
high-performance media conversion, and connects to both
100 and 1000Mbps SFP (small form-factor pluggable) devices
via its copper port. It can be attached to a wall, desktop,
or DIN rail.
“We have improved and upgraded the data
speeds provided by our popular family of PoE media converters
to offer our customers investment protection, and address
their intensive bandwidth needs at remote network end points,”
said Philip Jopa, chief technology officer, Allied Telesis.
“Today, large campuses are deploying complex applications,
and our new AT-PC2002/POE offers both speed and performance
so there is no need to compromise between the two.”
